VILLAGE SHOP-NEWSPAPERS. Parishioners will be aware that Country Fare has closed, however Hardman Road Post Office and News , 4 Hardman Rd Chichester, has agreed to deliver newspapers to the Parish. Delivery is free for the first four weeks with a charge of 30p per day after the initial period. The proprietors Chris and Theresa BUITENHUIS will accept more customers. QUEENS JUBILEE 4TH June 2012. The PCC have stated that their representatives on the Working Group will be The Vicar, Church Wardens Julie Tassell, Nick La Hive and Treasurer Bill Maddock. A meeting will be held on the return of the Vicar from holiday and reported upon in the next Newsletter.
CHICHESTER SOUTH COMMUNITY ACTION PLAN. On 29th September a meeting was held of all the Parishes in the Group attended by the Leader of WSCC Louise Goldsmith and presentations were made by officials of WSCC and Parish Representatives. Discussion Groups were formed and various useful aspects of the programme aired. It was agreed that the Action Pilot be changed to Action Plan. The Working Group has a mandate to continue to steer the project and the Action Plan will develop in line with the priorities identified at the meeting. The next steps will deal with Services and Facilities and Community Safety. All Parishes in the Group will be kept informed by E Mail.
BOURNES FORUM. The meeting was given information about CDC Community Facilities Database, which contains information supplied and updated by Parish Councils. The database is not accessible outside the CDC and presentations by WSCC officials on the Community Action Plan.
THE DELL. Councillor Goulding has suggested that up to three seats or benches be provided for the Dell. He is to investigate the possibility of relatives funding them as ‘commemorative’ seats. He can be contacted on 575255.
PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY VOLUNTEERS. WSCC is looking for volunteers to become Parish Path Inspectors and Volunteer Rangers. Inspectors look at public rights of way chosen and agreed by the volunteer. Inspectors are trained and also shadow County Access Rangers to look for issues which are considered to reduce the safety of or access to the public rights of way. The Volunteer Rangers role involves working in small groups to undertake maintenance work as identified by the Inspectors and Access Rangers. Tools and equipment are supplied by WSCC and each group is led and the task explained by the Volunteer Co-ordinator. POLICE. The latest report sets out details of incidents in the Parish, 2 cases of theft and loose horses - please make sure you secure the gates and fences, and of activities involving the use of mobile SIDS. Several motorists have been reported for speeding. 10 residents of East Ashling have volunteered and trained on how to man the Parish SID and will once vetting has been completed, be helping with the Parish campaign to prevent speeding.
