FUNTINGTON PARISH NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 2011 NUMBER 280

CITIZENS ADVICE BUREAU. There are three CAB’S at Bognor Regis, Littlehampton and Chichester, styled Arun and Chichester Cab. They are covered by 35 staff, 160 Volunteers and a Board of 7 Trustees. As well as generalist caseworkers they also offer specialist advice through a Legal Services Commission contract in respect of Employment, Welfare, Benefits, Debt and Family Law . They are also in partnership with Shelter who give advice on Housing issues. Debt, Benefits and Housing are the main problem areas dealt with by CAB. You can make contact by visiting the office at 6 Theatre Lane, Chichester. BN117 6BP Tel No 776528, or WWW.arunchichestercab.org.uk

FLY TIPPING . This subject was discussed at the last Pc Meeting. The Parish acts immediately when fly tipping is discovered and the offending material removed by CDC. Parishioners can contact any Parish Councillor or the Parish Clerk or directly with CDC on 01243 534598 regarding fly tipping matters.

COMMUNITY ACTION PLAN. The recent Working Group meeting considered the next stage of the project. It was decided to deal with the next 2 priorities as follow, Community Services & Facilities and Community Safety. The first deals with Rural Transport, Rural Businesses and Broadband, Youth and Older Peoples Services, the second with Community Wardens, Policing, Neighbourhood Watch, Speeding Management & Awareness. It was felt that Broadband improvement for Business in Rural areas was a major concern particularly for Farmers . The bids on the Highways Improvement project are being assessed. The West Stoke bid dealing with flooding has been placed on the redesign list.

SIDS. The communal and Police SIDS have been used within the Parish. A SID is currently being used in East Ashling recording speeds and numbers of vehicles over a specific period in order to assess the scale of the problem in that area of the Parish.

COMMUNICATION. It has been suggested that there is an apparent lack of communication between the PC and Parishioners. All Parish Councillors are available to communicate with any Parishioner who wants to discuss a problem or concern. Details of Parish Councillors are on the Notice Boards and the Website. Better still why not attend the PC Meeting where at the end of the meeting there is a Public Forum.

POLICE. The Police have reported that there have been a number of thefts of Diesel Oil along the A259 area of Bosham to Chichester, please make sure your tanks are protected because it is thought that thefts could spread to North of the A259 which could include Funtington.

NEXT MEETING The next PC Meeting is on Wednesday 7th December, West Ashling Village Hall 6.30pm.
